As part of the Digify Africa mandate, Digify Bytes aims to create a borderless Africa. In 2016, the Bytes team partnered with Google on their mission to train 1 million Africans in digital skills. Offline sessions were held in over 50 cities continent-wide, including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Namibia and Zimbabwe. In addition, a series of virtual sessions were live streamed and engaged audiences throughout the Diaspora.

The programme built an impactful footprint in the markets where training took place. It developed not only a network of professional digital trainers, but participants who were exposed to a world of opportunity made available by understanding the basic of fundamentals digital marketing.

Ultimately, through this activity, Digify Bytes has established a recognised brand as a youth-led network for digital skills across the continent. This along with the direct impact on over 70 000 trainees has provided us with learnings to take our strategy to the next level this year.
